Josefa "Fita" Chapa Rios

January 9, 1935 - February 4, 2022

Josefa “Fita” Chapa Rios, 87, of Kingsville, TX joined our Lord on February 4, 2022. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. Fita Rios was born in Kingsville, TX to Felipe and Enriqueta Chapa on January 9, 1935. She was married to Frank Rios Sr. on July 3, 1955, in Kingsville, TX at an early morning ceremony. Fita was a natural caregiver and dedicated her life to taking care of others. The roles she took upon herself were nurse, educator, chef, accountant, personal shopper, secretary for Frank’s Electric Service and many others. Her grandkids knew grandma would always have a warm meal on the table and a couch to rest their heads on. Her hobbies included listening, dancing to Mariachi music and she enjoyed her evening walks with her friends. Fita Rios is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frank Rios Sr. and daughter, Irasema “Edie” Mayorga. Fita Rios is survived by her son Francisco (Ofie) Rios Jr. of Corpus Christi; daughter, Leticia (James) Noel of Kingsville; eight grandchildren, R.J., Cristina, Cindy, Claudia, Johnny, Corina, Matthew, and Carla; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8th from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8th at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass is being held on February 9th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin’s Catholic Church with Father Alfredo Villarreal officiating. The burial will be held at Chamberlain Cemetery. The family would like to recognize New Century Hospice team especially Marivel Renteria for her endearing care and attention she has shown their mother and grandmother.
