Carmen G. Trevino passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on August 8, 2017 at her home at the age of 96. Carmen was born in Kingsville, Texas on July 20, 1921. She was the youngest of eight children born to Casimiro Canales Garcia and Amalia Medina Garcia, proud immigrants from Cuidad Mier Tamaulipas, Mexico. Carmen had been an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church since 1954. She served her beloved parish as a Eucharist Minister, Lector, was a member of the Altar Society and Bereavement Committee, and with loving care she prepared Baptism Bibs. She was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and the Aquarela Social & Civic Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose C. “El Cuate” Trevino, daughter Lavinia T. Salinas, her parents Casimiro C. Garcia and Amalia Medina Garcia, and her brothers and sisters: Angelica Gonzalez, Maria Luisa “Licha” Perez, Consuelo “Chelo” Saldana, Francisco “Kiko” Garcia, Isaura “Chaua” Perez, Manuel “Meme” Garcia, and Amalia “Maya” York. She is survived by her children Velma E. (Gilbert) Reyes, Joe R. (Elva) Trevino, and son-in-law David (ϯ Lavinia) Salinas; Nine Grandchildren: Monica S. Garcia, David Salinas, Jr., Jaime Salinas, Enrique (Rick) Salinas, Bert Reyes, Tony Reyes, Pricilla T. Martinez, Leticia T. Torres, and Jose Humberto (Buddy) Trevino; 15 Great-Grand Children: Dominic Garcia, Vivian Garcia, Nathan Salinas, Jacob Salinas, Alynna Salinas, Isabella Salinas, Xavier James Salinas, Sydney Reyes, Camryn Reyes, Matthew Reyes, Taylor Reyes, Twister Reyes, Melaina Martinez, Ava Martinez, and Mia Ramos. She is also survived by sister-in-law Antonia “Tonche” Lozano, many loving nieces, nephews and very close family friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, 230 E. Ella, followed with a Rosary being recited the same evening at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1102 E. Kleberg, Kingsville, TX. Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 11, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church 1102 E. Kleberg, Kingsville, TX. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Cemetery, 1114 W. Trant Rd.
