Guillermo Medrano Jr.

Guillermo Medrano Jr., 59 years of age passed away peacefully on August 24, 2021, at Christus Hospital in Kingsville, Texas. Guillermo, known to family and friends as Willie, was born August 27, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Guillermo Medrano Sr. and Amada Rodriguez Medrano. As a young man he loved helping his parents around the ranch caring for the animals and crops. In his young years he worked at Waynes Restaurant and Kings Inn washing dishes and later learned to cook under the discipleship of Leopoldo Zamora (an old friend of his father’s). After graduation he worked for South Texas Highway Construction for approximately 15 years alongside his father and his maternal and paternal uncles. In 1992, as a result of tragic accident, he was disabled due to the injuries. Times were hard but he never complained. Despite his handicap, Willie found ways to make ends meet for his family. He loved football and spending family time with his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents Francisco and Juanita Flores Medrano, his maternal grandparents Pedro and Maria Guana Rodriguez, his father Guillermo Medrano Sr. and his first nephew Larry Wayne Trevino. Survivors include his wife (love of his life) of 40 years Lilly Gonzales Medrano; his sons Guillermo-Buddy (Samantha) Medrano III of Kingsville, Texas, Matthew (Miranda) Medrano of Robstown, Texas, Jonathan (Jeanette) Medrano of Kingsville, Texas; his grandchildren Matthew Jr., Jayden, Isaiah, Israel, Jonathan Jr. and Angel; his mother Amada R Medrano; his sisters Norma (Roland Cruz) Doucette of Alice, Texas, Linda (David) Garcia of Alice, Texas, and Frances (Mike) Ayala of Banquete, Texas.; Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, and cousins. Willie will always be remembered for his humble and caring heart, for his simplicity and always seeing the good in all things, situations, and people and for the hard-working man, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, and brother that he was. Private Funeral Services will be held for Mr. Guillermo Medrano Jr. Arrangements under the direction of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
